Education - Teachers ReferenceThe Castle Pamela provides an excellent platform for teachers to cover a wide range of multi-curriculum learning objectives. Most school groups spend around 2.5 hours at The Castle: including an hour for the collection, half an hour for lunch and an hour for games. These times are flexible to suit your programme. Tirau provides many other attractions suitable for school visits. Centrally located in the South Waikato The Castle provides an excellent stop en-route to school camps or other outings i.e. trip to the snow or outdoor pursuit centre. Prior booking is essential. Please phone Pam or Kelvin Baker on 07 8831112. Check out the individual learning areas below to see examples of what activities are available at The Castle.

An educational experience or just a fun day out.We have found that there are two main reasons teachers like to bring their classes to The Castle. Sometimes you need a stimulating environment to help focus your kids learning towards a certain curriculum goal. Sometimes you just need a fun place as an end of year treat or as an option for a day out. The Castle excels in providing for both of these kinds of visits.

Please Note
Visit safetyThe following information is to help teachers complete school safety or risk management statements. The Castle is a safe place to visit but we suggest that teachers visit The Castle prior to bringing their class so as to familiarize themselves with the site and any possible hazards. Students should be advised of appropriate behavior while visiting: i.e. no running inside, no banging on glass, no climbing on furniture, etc. The front of The Castle boasts an impressive moat which is up to 1.5 meters deep. Students should be advised not to reach out into the moat or attempt to go swimming. It is suggested that while the students are outside one of the supervising adults stay near the moat as a precaution. One of the towers includes a stairwell used to gain access to the roof which is still under construction. The stairs are sealed off and are strictly off access to all visitors both children and adults. Rolling farmland surrounds The Castle - while none of the animals pose any risk, we ask that students treat the animals with care. Bags should be left on the bus or vehicles. A telephone is located in the caf kitchen for emergency.
